NOTABLE PROJECTS On occasion, CMD has been chosen to build many one-of-a-kind projects. Most of these have been for the US Government, the US Military and Military Defense Contractors. Due to the confidentiality of these projects, the details can’t be discussed. But here are a couple of note worthy projects. |

|
IBM. Almaden Research Center,
In 1995, IBM scientist Don Eigler manipulated
individual atoms with the worlds most powerful scanning, tunneling
microscope, to spell the letters "IBM". He also discovered the Quantum
Mirage Effect that may eventually revolutionize the semiconductor
industry. This was done in a sound proof and vibration free chamber
constructed by CMD. |
Toyota Racing Development, Santa Ana,
CA & Honda Racing, San Fernando, CA To facilitate the design, construction and testing of the latest in engine technology for their Indy racing cars, CMD was chosen to build explosion and sound proof engine test cells inside the main facility. The air handling requirements for these indoor test cells are much greater than any clean room specifications.
|
GTE, Long Beach, CA A unique challenge presented itself to GTE when upgrading their telephone switching facility in downtown Long Beach. CMD met this challenge by installing a double wall soundproof enclosure for their dual, backup generators. This allowed 24/7 redundancies for their facility without exceeding the strict noise level requirements during full power operation of the generators.
Alameda Water District, Freemont, CA
